ROANOKE (VR) – The Virginia State Police are actively searching for a vehicle that was involved in a road rage shooting on the morning of Friday, June 17, in Roanoke.
Virginia State Police said that the incident happened on I-81 North around 7:15 a.m.
The vehicle that is suspected in the incident is a red Mazda 3 with Colorado tags, “BMUL57.” The Virginia State Police has said that the vehicle is damaged on the whole passenger side. The Mazda was seen exiting on I-81 to I-581 heading towards Roanoke.
The two vehicles that were involved in the shooting incident were the Mazda and a box truck. Police said that a male inside of the Mazda opened fired on the box truck. However, no injuries have been reported.
There has been a statewide alert issued for the Mazda involved in the incident.
All of the lanes on I-81 near the mile maker 141 are now open.
