Ms. Alexis Richmond was recently announced as the inaugural 2021-2022 District Induction Rookie Teacher of the Year. She is a
first-year, Induction 1 fifth-grade teacher and Girls on the Run Coach at River Ridge Academy.
A Virginia Tech graduate, Ms. Richmond’s nomination, written responses, and work this academic year demonstrate her outstanding professionalism, high expectations, exceptional planning skills, strong classroom management, and reflective practices. Ms. Richmond has a true dedication to the profession. Her work has made a substantial impact on the lives of our students as well as many other members of the school community.
The Beaufort County School District Rookie Teacher of the Year title is awarded to beginning Induction teachers in their first three years of teaching. The selection process for this award was extensive, and many great candidates were nominated. Administrators and colleagues submitted their top-performing Induction teachers and the nominees completed an application with written responses, which were then carefully reviewed by a team.
Ms. Richmond has been nominated on behalf of Beaufort County School District for consideration for the SC Induction Teacher of the Year, sponsored by South Carolina ASCD, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with a primary mission of improving the teaching and learning of all students.
She is a 2016 graduate of Alleghany High School and a 2020 graduate from Va Tech and received her Masters in education in 2021. She is the daughter of Angella & Brian Nicely of Clifton Forge and the sister to Hailey Nicely who is currently attending Va Tech. Alexis is also the granddaughter of Harry & Hazel Persinger of Covington.
