Recently, our family was headed to the Outer Banks of N.C. for a family vacation. There were ten of us including two young children in our group.
We were coming from Ohio and hauling a trailer, when it became a tenuous situation. We were exiting the ramp for Covington, Va., when the frame on our trailer collapsed.
It was 4 am when we pulled into the Exxon station on Durant Rd.
My son was beside himself. He is a mechanic and knew how to fix it, but without the materials and proper tools it was impossible. At that point we did not know what to do.
Then we were greeted warmly by Bonnie, “The night clerk at Exxon”, she proved to be an angel in disguise.
Bonnie immediately started to work with people she knew might be able to help. Before we knew it, people came in from your community to help in any way they could. Bonnie brought us coffee and offered to feed the kids from the Arby’s on site.
By 10 am we were at Farm and Fuel , 121 N. Alleghany Ave., where the owner J.W. provided everything that we needed to get us back on the road.
The people of Covington, Va. have much to be proud of. They are some of the warmest people we’ve ever meant.
Without them our vacation would have been ruined, so THANK YOU!!! Bonnie, Holley and crew, Kevin, J.W. and crew, as well as the kind people of Covington, Va.
God Will Bless You All!!
