Despite the intermittent rain and overcast, chilly, day, The Clifton Forge School of the Arts and the Historic Masonic Theatre and Amphitheatre celebrated Spring, the Garden, and the Arts at MayFaire, Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00pm.
Church Street was blocked off from Jefferson to Commercial for this fun-filled day for the whole family on the adjoining grounds of CFSOTA, HMT, and the Amphitheatre.
“The music will begin in just a little while,” said Cindy Perry, President of CFSOTA’s board of directors as I checked in at the ticket booth. Perry said there is food and snacks in the HMT’s Underground Café, live music on the Amphitheatre’s stage, and several crafters inside CFSOTA’s Mill.
Inside the Mill, William Jennings, part-time instructor at the CFSOTA, stopped in the middle of a painting to explain that he was “showing the crowd and spectators how easy it is to paint an acrylic in this style and how simple it is.” Jennings also painted the mural on the back wall in the yard of the C & O Heritage Center.
During the last hour, MayFaire waived the $5.00 entrance fee as the sun threatened to come out to shine on the ending of this overwhelmingly successful event.
