Kinley Eggleston, is a superstar.
The Alleghany Lady Mountaineers (7-2) varsity soccer team picked up their third straight win and improved to 7-2 on the season following a 7-0 shutout victory over rival the Glenvar Highlanders.
In the win, Eggleston, proved to be a nightmare for the Highlanders as she scored a game and season-high six goals in the blowout victory for the Lady Mounties. Eggleston’s previous season-high for goals this year was five against Stuarts Draft on March 28th.
With her performance against the Highlanders, Eggleston, now has 26 goals on the season so far in just nine games. Eggleston surpassed her season total from last year when she scored 25 in 11 total games.
Ashtyn Bishop, picked up the Lady Mounties other goal in the win, which also put Bishop in the double digits colum.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper, Emma Williams, was dominant on the nets with 16 saves. The Highlanders offense could not solve Williams. It was the second most saves on the season for Williams, who recorded a season-high 17 saves in the Lady Mounties first of two losses to Byrd.
The three-game win streak for the Lady Mounties ties the teams longest of the season.
The win for the team also puts them in first place in the Three Rivers District.
Up next for the Lady Mounties, the team travels to Carroll County today at 6:00 p.m.
In last Thursday’s game, the Lady Mounties made quick work of Floyd County with a 12-0 victory over the Buffaloes.
In the teams victory over the Buffaloes, the Lady Mounties finished the game with three players scoring the hat trick with three goals or more each. Eggleston, Bishop, and Lucy Nicely, each had three goals. The three goals made by Nicley, was her season-high.
Meanwhile, Carlee Lanford, scored two goals, while Sidney Donnan, added one goal.
