What once operated in Clifton Forge as the Shell Gasoline Station that had a car wash outside and a Taco Bell dining area inside has reopened under new ownership as Ridgeway Grab and Go.
Spearheading the reopening, Kevin Dixon said, “We are having a soft opening right now, and by the weekend we will have our gas pumps going, but we will have to wait for the state inspector to certify the pumps before we can start selling gas.”
On Wed., Feb. 16, several repair trucks were parked beside the business as remodeling work was ongoing inside while touch-up work was being completed on the outside.
The business located adjacent to Hardee’s on the western end of town had just received a new Coca-Cola machine that workers were struggling to move through the open doorway.
According to Dixon, the Ridgeway Grab and Go will not sell any alcoholic beverages or lottery tickets, but the new business will feature gaming machines similar to those found in an arcade.
Also, he noted that the store will offer its customers an assortment of soft drinks, candy, snacks, and sundry supplies typically found in convenience stores.
Dan Patel, the new owner, was not present as Dixon was directing the workers to make necessary repairs.
Dixon remarked, “We eventually plan to sell pizza and other food items, but right now we’re in our soft opening stage.”
Patel, a Roanoke businessman, owns 10 stores, and he recently purchased East Coast Petroleum on Ridgeway Street nearer to the downtown area and added BP gasoline to the operation.
