This one wasn’t close.
Led by Purcel Turner’s game-high 21 points, the Cougars picked up their sixth win of the season while keeping the Mustangs winless.
The Cougars had a great balance of offense and defense. The team had had two players in double figures, Turner and Ashton Cook, who was second in scoring for the team with 15 points. The defense did a great job containing the Mustangs as the Cougars forced over 20 turnovers.

Leading by 10 points entering the second quarter, Turner, scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the quarter as the Cougars lead grew as high as 15 points.
The two teams would trade off baskets for the remaining few minutes of the first half as the Cougars took a 33-21 lead going into the second half.
The Mustangs attempted a come back in the start of the third quarter as they opened the second half by going on a 6-3 scoring run to get the deficit down to 10 points at 37-27. Turner, wouldn’t allow the Mustangs to get any closer as he knocked down back to back layups to put the Cougars lead back up to 14 points. The Cougars went into the final quarter leader 45-31.
With a 14-point lead, the Cougars made sure there would be no comeback from the Mustangs as the Cougars kept up with their offensive attack and brought their lead up to as high as 21 points following a Cook jump shot from the left corner of the free throw line.
Camren Sampson, led the Mustangs with a team-high 16 points, while collecting six rebounds which was tied for game-high with three other players. 13 of Sampson’s 16 points came in the second half as he knocked down a game-high four three-pointers. Eli Brown, chipped in with eight points for the team.
