The Historic Masonic Theatre is holding a winter fundraiser by raffling a quilt made and donated by an international quilter, Kaye England. In creams, soft green, and a variety of popular blues (including navy), this quilt titled “Sapphire Stars” is queen-sized (82 ½” x 92”) and is custom-designed and pieced by quilt designer, author, and quilt-maker, Kaye England. “Sapphire Stars” is made with Kaye’s “Sapphire Stars” fabric collection that is one hundred percent cotton. The quilt is appraised at $3,000.
Raffle tickets sell for $5.00 per ticket or $25.00 for six and may be purchased in person at The Historic Masonic Theatre or online at www.historicmasonictheatre.com. Lollie’s Quilt Shop, Livy’s Closet, and Alleghany Highlands Arts & Crafts Center are also selling tickets.
Kaye England, who lives in Indianapolis, has presented three sold-out annual quilt retreats in the Theatre; and also donated a quilt for a raffle in February 2020. Kaye will be in the Alleghany Highlands on February 19th and will draw the winning ticket at that time.
Kaye said, “I wanted to do something for The Historic Masonic Theatre because the Theatre holds a special place in my heart. My son is a musician and I understand first-hand how performers, theatres and music venues have suffered by being shuttered and unable to put on performances. I enjoy visiting the Alleghany Highlands and have seen the positive impact that this Theatre has on this community”.
“Sapphire Stars” is hanging in the Theatre Annex for those who would like to see it. Tickets may also be purchased from Masonic Theatre Preservation Foundation Board members. All proceeds from the raffle go directly to The Historic Masonic Theatre and will be used for preservation and ongoing important needs.
