LOW MOOR — The Alleghany Highlands YMCA is organizing an Adult Basketball League for early 2022.

The league will be open to anyone age 16 and older. Both men and women are encouraged to sign up.

Registration is now open, and participants can sign up as teams. The cost is $250 per team with a limit of 12 teams. The deadline to register is Jan. 20, 2022. At this time, practices are tentatively scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Further details on the league will be announced at a later date. For more information, contact Michael May, Alleghany Highlands YMCA personal trainer and health and wellness director, at (540) 862-8678 or league organizer Jacob Grimes at (540) 968-0911.

The YMCA will also be holding a six-week gymnastics program for youngsters, beginning on Friday, Jan. 14.

Classes for 5-7 year olds will begin at 4:45 p.m., while classes for children ages 8-11 will begin at 5:30 p.m. Each class will be limited to 10 students.

Classes will be held on Fridays each week. If Alleghany County schools are closed, no classes will be held that evening. Makeup sessions will be scheduled.

The cost of the program is $45 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members. Classes will be held in the Aerobics Studio.

For more information, contact May at 862-8678.

The Alleghany Highlands YMCA, since its inception, has provided a variety of youth and family programs and expanded membership and services into all of the Alleghany Highlands communities. For more information on the Alleghany Highlands YMCA, call 962-9622.
