Today’s Headline: Mr. Revercomb In Plea For Rights Of Our People.
Appearing before the Town Council at their regular meeting Monday night at the courthouse, Mr. George Revercomb Jr. spoke in connection with the proposed exchange of certain water rights in the vicinity of Clearwater Park and for water rights in the vicinity of the old tannery sites.
In substance, he said, “In opposing the Town of Covington selling or trading the water in Roaring Run, it is not my purpose to prevent anyone from getting water, but I am very much interested in the town retaining the ownership of the water in Roaring Run, because there is other land beside Clearwater Park in the vicinity of Roaring Run and I am interested in some of that land.”

Today’s Headline: Collins Is On Sunday Blue Law Group.
Sen. Hale Collins of Covington was one of three legislators with no record of advocating any major changes in Virginia’s blue law appointed Thursday to work on amendments to the law, which is now before the Senate Court of Justice Committee.
Sen. Collins said he is approaching the task with an ‘open mind’ and wants to make no statement now since he is on the subcommittee.
But, he recalled, before coming to Richmond for this session of the General Assembly he said on a TV program in Roanoke that no “blue law” can be “perfect” but he feels the present law “comes has near being perfect as any you can write.”
