Today’s Headline: Are Citizens Of Covington Still Living Under Old Ordinances Of 1882?
Are old laws still on the town ordinance books or have they been lost through the years?
They may have been repealed by later town councils but only an exhaustive study of 54 years of town records, many of them missing, can determine what old and obsolete laws the citizens of Covington are now living under.
The old ordinances are taken from a manuscript in the possession of a resident of this town.
They are written in longhand and show crudities of construction in some places.

Helvey’s Courtesy Store, 117 W. Main St., will reopen Friday, featuring a wide selection of fresh seafood, produce, custom-cut meats and a small line of grocery items.
