STAUNTON, Va. (VR) – The following is a list of maintenance and construction work that may affect traffic in the VDOT Staunton District, which consists of 11 counties in the Shenandoah Valley and Alleghany Highlands.
Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. When traveling through a work zone, use extreme caution and be alert for lane closures and traffic-pattern changes.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY
INTERSTATE 64
*NEW* Mile marker 25 to 27, eastbound and westbound– Single lane closures for bridge inspection, 9 a.m. Thursday through 3 p.m. Friday.
*NEW* Exit 27, eastbound and westbound – Right shoulder closures along the off-ramps for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
PRIMARY ROADS
*NEW* Route 60 (Madison Street, Covington) – Eastbound right shoulder closures for sign work near intersection with Route 697 (Carlyle Street) and Route 784 (Grayson Avenue), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
*NEW* Business Route 60 – Eastbound shoulder closures for mowing operations between the Clifton Forge town line and Route 696 (Selma-Low Moor Road), 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
Route 159 (Dunlap Creek Road) – Signalized traffic control for bridge replacement between Route 655 (Moss Run Road) and Route 717 (Boone Road) through June 2028.
*NEW* Route 42 (Forty Two Road) – Alternating lane closures for bridge inspection at I-64 junction just north of Route 269/632 (Longdale Furnace Road), 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
Various roads – Flagger traffic control for tree and debris removal, drainage work, pothole patching, brush cutting, ditching and shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
SECONDARY ROADS
*NEW* Route 629 (Douthat State Park Road) – Northbound shoulder closures for work between I-64 interchange and Route F-208 (Turner Road), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Various roads – Flagger traffic control for ditch work, shoulder repairs, pothole repairs, pipe replacement and brush cutting, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

*NEW* Route 220 (Sam Snead Highway) – Northbound shoulder closures for sign work between intersections with Route 619 (Courthouse Hill Road/Klondike Drive), 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Route 220 (Potomac River Road) – Temporary traffic signal in operation 24/7 between Route 632 (The Pines Road) and Route 629 (Strait Creek Road) for Strait Creek bridge replacement. Estimated completion August 2027.
*NEW* Route 250 – Eastbound right lane closures near the intersection with Route 615 (Davis Run Road) for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Route 640 (Blue Grass Valley Road) – Traffic diversion in place 24/7 just south of Route 642 (Laurel Fork Road) for bridge replacement through November 30.
