George Edward Dobbs, age 88, of 912 Rose Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his residence.
He was born November 1, 1929 in Rockbridge County, Virginia a son of the late Sheron Donald and Myrtle Frances Plogger Dobbs. 

He retired from Dominion Power after which he worked for DSLCC.  George was of the Methodist Faith, a member of The Clifton Forge Elks Lodge BPOE #1065, Millboro Masonic Lodge #28 A.F. & A.M., Kazim Shriners and the Clifton Forge Shrine Club, he loved playing golf and gardening.   

He also served in the United States Army and the Virginia Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sheron “Hump” Dobbs, Jr. and an infant sister, Loretta Belle Dobbs.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dallas Sutherland Dobbs; two daughters, Debra Ann Fleshman, of Richmond, Jo Ellen Condon and husband Doug, of Maryland; three sons, George Dobbs, Jr. and wife Susan, of Richmond, Donald Mark Dobbs, Glen Dale Dobbs and wife Trish; a brother Howard Richard Dobbs, all of Clifton Forge; eight grandchildren, Amanda Fleshman, Erica, Courtney and Laura Dobbs, Gabrielle, and Ivan Dobbs, Jessica Mann White, Justin Dobbs; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Zachary Kaloustian and Kai Wills, Landon White; his special friends Glen Dean Purdue and the Hardee’s Breakfast Club..
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall and Mr. J.D Williams officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Active pallbearers will be, Corky, Mark, and Glen Dobbs, Ricky and Sidney Dobbs and Les Tinsley.  

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggest that memorial tributes take the form of donations in his memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Greenville, C/O Jim Eller, 1201 Crestwood Ave, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or the Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422
