Mr. Gerald Wayne Gibson, Sr., age 77, of Covington, died Friday, July 20, 2018, at his residence.
He was the husband of Betty Williams Gibson.
Mr. Gibson was born July 13, 1941 in Covington, the son of the late Edward Woodrow Gibson, Sr. and Lula Beatrice Fridley Gibson.  He was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1959.  Geraldwas employed by the former Hercules and AET where he worked in the fiber and film department before ending his career in the research department.   Mr. Gibson was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church as well as the Covenant Sunday School class.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Dead Eye Hunting Club.
In addition to his wife, Betty Williams Gibson, Mr. Gibson is survived by a son, Gerald W. Gibson, Jr. of Covington; two daughters, April G. Reyns and husband, Frank of Covington and Stacey N. Gibson, of Covington; five grandchildren, AdriAnne Reynolds and husband, Daniel, Katie N. Gibson, Mahaley Reyns, Derek Gibson and Rachel Reyns; an honorary grandchild, Holden Broughman; a great granddaughter, LilliAnna Reynolds; a brother, Edward W. Gibson, Jr. of Covington; a brother-in-law, Marshall Williams and wife, Susan; a sister-in-law, Karen Icenhour and husband, Paul; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 22, 2018, at McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. 

Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will Berkley Paxton, Ray Fridley, Fred Gibson, Jimmy Quick, Marshall Williams, Marshall Fox, Michael Young, and Jimmy Linkenhoker.
Honorary pallbearers will be B.A. Fridley, Paul Icenhour, Bill Gibson, Buddy Young, Larry Fridley and Larry Andrews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
