COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands was hit by a severe thunderstorm early Friday evening, with strong winds knocking down trees and power lines across the area. The storm caused widespread power outages and created hazardous conditions as crews responded to downed lines and storm damage.
