COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Local leaders from Alleghany County, the City of Covington, and the towns of Clifton Forge and Iron Gate joined together to sign a proclamation recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, 2026. The observance remembers those lost to overdose, supports individuals and families affected by substance use, and highlights the importance of prevention, treatment, recovery and reducing stigma.
