CLIFTON FORGE, VA (VR) – September is the perfect time to get outdoors and explore the trails of Clifton Forge, Virginia. Hike the Forge is offering a variety of guided trail adventures and family-friendly kids’ events throughout the month, giving residents and visitors plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature, learn about the local environment, and discover the beauty of the area.
Guided Trail Adventures
Outdoor enthusiasts can take part in two guided hikes during September. On September 5 at 9 a.m., participants can enjoy a Tree ID Hike on the Reservoir Trail, an opportunity to explore the trail while learning more about the trees and plant life found throughout the area.
The next guided adventure takes place on September 26 at 9 a.m. with “Aliens Among Us” at Hazel Run Trail. This hike will focus on discovering invasive species and learning about the plants that may be changing the local ecosystem.
Fun and Educational Kids’ Events
Children also have several opportunities to explore the outdoors through a series of hands-on events. The kids’ activities begin with a Critter Crawl on September 8 at 6 p.m., offering young explorers a chance to get up close with some of the small creatures found along the trails.
On September 15, children can participate in a Scavenger Hunt Hike, combining outdoor exploration with a fun search for clues and natural treasures.
The series continues on September 22 with Insect Detectives, where kids can learn more about the fascinating world of insects and the important roles they play in nature.
The final kids’ event of the month is scheduled for September 29 and features Reptiles: Snake and Turtle, providing an exciting opportunity to learn about these unique animals.
All kids’ events are located on the Sensory (Smith Creek) Trail.
With guided hikes for adults and families and interactive programs designed especially for children, September’s Hike the Forge events offer something for everyone.
