In Loving Memory of Emma Jean Hardwick Brown Walton “Neenee”
Emma Jean Hardwick Brown Walton “NeeNee”, 83, of Covington, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 22, 2026, in Low Moor, Virginia.
Born on April 6, 1943, in Quinwood, West Virginia, Emma Jean was the daughter of the late Eddie & Bertha Hardwick of western Greenbrier County.
She spent her childhood in western Greenbrier County before making Covington, Virginia, her home in 1974.
She worked at the old sewing factory, Western Sizzlin, and Bonanza before discovering her true calling as a caregiver for the elderly. For 17 years, she
faithfully devoted herself to caring for others, bringing comfort, kindness, and dignity to those who needed it most. Emma Jean was a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit. She faced life’s joys and hardships with unwavering strength and a quick wit.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Elden Walton; her daughter-in-law, Holly; her grandson (whom she raised as her own), Faron, and his wife, Katie; and four treasured great-grandchildren, Garrick, Remington, Izabella, and Will-Lee Wayne, who brought her immeasurable joy as well as two nieces that were near and dear to her heart, Carolyn Hylton and Sherry Dehaven. She was preceded in death by her beloved son and best friend, Willie Reid Brown Jr.; her two brothers, Richard Hardwick and Mervin Hardwick; and one great-grandchild, B.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has gone home to be with the Lord. Emma Jean was laid to rest at Wallace & Wallace Memorial, where her memory will continue to be honored by those who loved her.
