Cougars Lose At Showcase

CROZET — Madison Payne netted four three-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points Saturday in Waynesboro’s 53-20 win over Covington at Western Albemarle High School.
The game was part of the Play For Preemies Showcase event, which raised over $7,000 for the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital and the Carilion Clinic.
De’nia Jones added 12 for the Little  Giants, who improved to 5-7 on the season.
Zy’onah Garrison led Covington with six points, while both Amiah Hunter and Ariel Barber had four each.
The Cougars (1-2 Pioneer District, 2-9 overall) return to district play tonight with a trip to Narrows.
