WAYNESBORO, Va. (VR) – Alleghany pulled out a 5-4 win, leaning on singles depth and clutch doubles play to finish it off.

The Cougars split singles play 4-2. Lannie McCormick led the way with an 8-4 win, while Alayla Morgan added an 8-5 victory. Mylee Dunbar controlled her match 8-3, and Lexy Wills delivered the most dominant performance of the day with an 8-0 shutout. Haley Ryder fell 3-8 and Kara Nicely dropped a 2-8 decision.

Doubles proved decisive. After McCormick and Morgan were swept 0-8, Ryder and Wills responded in a marathon match, battling to an 8-8 tie before pulling away for a 10-3 win. Nicely and Dunbar sealed the team victory with a commanding 8-1 result.
