Alleghany County, VA – The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and Alleghany Regional Jail are proud to announce that the facility has received a 100% compliance rating during its most recent three-year jail audit, reflecting the agency’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and accountability in correctional operations. The comprehensive audit, conducted in accordance with Virginia correctional standards, examined every aspect of jail operations. Areas reviewed included facility security, inmate supervision, medical services, staff training, policies and procedures, recordkeeping, and overall operational compliance. The audit process also included on-site inspections, document reviews, and direct interviews conducted by auditors with inmates housed at the facility, allowing them to provide feedback regarding jail conditions, treatment by staff, and overall operations. Achieving a perfect score confirms that the Alleghany Regional Jail meets or exceeds all applicable requirements established for the operation of a local correctional facility.

Jail Administrator Major Ray Keen said the accomplishment is a direct reflection of the dedication and professionalism demonstrated by the staff each day. “Receiving a 100% score on our three-year jail audit is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment of our entire staff,” said Keen. “Operating a correctional facility requires constant attention to detail, professionalism, and teamwork. The men and women who work inside our jail take great pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment. I am extremely proud of their efforts and grateful for the dedication they show every day.” Alleghany County Sheriff Kyle Moore also commended the staff for their efforts and emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in correctional operations. “This perfect audit score is something our entire office can be proud of,” said Moore. “The operation of a jail carries tremendous responsibility, and our staff consistently demonstrate the professionalism, integrity, and dedication required to meet that responsibility.

I want to thank every employee of the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and Regional Jail for their hard work and commitment to excellence. Their efforts ensure that our facility operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all standards.” Sheriff’s Office leadership noted that the achievement represents more than simply passing an inspection. It reflects the ongoing commitment of correctional staff, supervisors, medical personnel, and administrative staff who work together daily to ensure the facility operates safely and effectively while maintaining a professional environment for both staff and inmates. The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and Alleghany Regional Jail remain committed to maintaining the highest professional standards while continuing to serve the citizens of Alleghany County and the surrounding region with integrity, accountability, and dedication.
