WARRENTON, Va. (VR) – Covington Middle School eighth grader Carter Wyatt has put together a strong postseason run, earning a spot at the Mid-Atlantic Eastern Nationals after back-to-back top finishes.
Wyatt opened the stretch by claiming first place at the Mid-Atlantic District Tournament in Fauquier, winning his bracket to secure the championship. He carried that momentum into the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in Maryland, where he battled through a deep field and finished second overall to punch his ticket to nationals.
The results cap off a steady year of growth on the mat. Wyatt competed for CMS during the school season, then continued sharpening his skills with Majka Wrestling Club. He also stayed active in open tournaments through Alleghany Youth Wrestling, adding valuable matches and experience outside of school competition.
Those around the program credit his consistency and work ethic for the breakout postseason. Now, with a district title and regional runner-up finish behind him, Wyatt shifts his focus to the Mid-Atlantic Eastern Nationals, where he will face some of the strongest wrestlers in the region.
