Cougars Deliver Double Runner-Up Showing

STAUNTON, Va. (VR) – The cougar girls totaled 93 points to finish second, backed by multiple event wins and consistent depth across the lineup.

Karizma Legg placed third in the 100 meters (14.26) and won the 400 (1:14.12), adding a seventh-place finish in the 200 (31.98).

The 4×100 relay team of Danica Simon, Uzzell, Skidmore and Journee Tate took first in 1:00.54.

Willow Morgan won the 800 (2:45.51) and added a third-place finish in the long jump (12-11 1/4) and fifth in the high jump (4-2). Alexandra Downs placed third in the 1600 (6:19.96) and fifth in the 800 (3:00.74), while Adrienne Downs finished ninth in both the 1600 (6:55.99) and 800 (3:14.07).

In the field events, Chloe Warlitner swept the throws, winning discus (77-11 1/2) and shot put (30-0). Solara Kern placed second in discus (76-10) and fourth in shot put (21-8 1/2). Autumn McCoy added a fifth-place finish in shot put (20-9 3/5) and seventh in discus (44-7 1/2), while Ava Gibson placed sixth in discus (49-5) and ninth in shot put (17-9 1/4).

In the jumps, Danica Simon placed second in the triple jump (26-10 1/2) and Journee Tate finished third (25-10 3/4).

The boys totaled 100 points to place second, backed by multiple event wins and strong performances across both track and field.

Cole Bowser led the distance group with a first-place finish in the 1600 meters (5:03.83) and returned to win the 800 (2:18.97). Levi Bartley added a third-place finish in the 1600 (5:08.66) and took second in the 800 (2:24.48), while Nolan Rosales placed seventh (2:41.80), Levi Wilkerson eighth (2:43.09), and Gabe Craft tenth (3:04.25).

Alleghany opened the relays with a win in the 4×100, as the team of JeSean Riddick, Jayden Richmond, Simmons, and Kimani Mbeshu finished in 51.90.

In hurdles, Tye Jarvis placed second in the 300 hurdles (55.97). Jayden Richmond added a fifth-place finish in the 200 (27.12).

Riddick also delivered in the field events, winning the triple jump (34-2) and high jump (5-6). Johvauntea Robinson placed third in both the triple jump (33-2) and high jump (5-0), while Richmond finished sixth in the high jump (4-10).

Richmond earned a win in the long jump (17-2).

In the throws, Izaike O’Connor won the discus (99-3 1/2). Garritt Havens placed fourth (75-2), Levi Wilkerson seventh (67-10), and Kimani Mbeshu ninth (64-6). Havens also added a fourth-place finish in the shot put (29-4 1/2), with Mbeshu fifth (28-10).
