LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany girls tennis team continued its outstanding season Thursday, defeating Heritage to advance to the Region 3C semifinals.

Under the direction of Coach Hinkle, the Lady Cougars put together another strong performance and will now travel to Spotswood on Monday for an 11 a.m. regional semifinal matchup.

Alleghany controlled singles play, winning five of six matches. Haley Ryder earned a 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles, while Alayla Morgan followed with a 6-2 win. Kara Nicely delivered the most decisive singles result of the day with a 6-0 shutout victory. Mylee Dunbar added a 6-4 win, and Lexy Wills also claimed a 6-4 victory.

The Lady Cougars carried that momentum into doubles competition. Ryder and Wills teamed up for a dominant 6-0 victory, while the duo of Nicely and Dunbar matched that effort with a 6-0 win of their own.

The victory adds another chapter to a successful season for Alleghany, which has consistently delivered strong performances throughout the year. The Lady Cougars will look to continue their postseason run Monday when they face Spotswood with a berth in the regional championship match on the line.
