ALLEGHANY HIGHLANDS, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and Regional Jail has been made aware of yet another SCAM that is going around. A citizen contacted our office and reported that she had received a letter in the mail that looked very similar to an official document. Luckily this person is an employee of the court system and immediately noticed that it was a scam. If you receive anything that looks similar to this and you feel that it could be a scam, please call the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office at 540-965-1770 or the Alleghany General District 540-965-1720 or Circuit Court 540-965-1730 to verify whether it is a scam or not. Whatever you do, do not send out any money until you verify.
