The Virginia Mathematics and Science Coalition recently awarded the Comprehensive Instructional Program Consortium (CIP) a 2019 Programs That Work award.
The consortium was recognized for significant work in the design and implementation of the program and its impact on mathematics education.
The CIP Coalition is an organization of 30 public school divisions of which Alleghany County Public Schools is a member.
“I want to thank Mrs. Mutispaugh and other central office staff for their leadership in developing our partnership with the CIP Coalition,” stated Gene Kotulka, superintendent of Alleghany County Public Schools. “Furthermore, the implementation of the program has already had an impact on our student learning and scores in mathematics.”
The Coalition is a private, nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization that supports efforts by school systems, teachers, parents, students, the commonwealth of Virginia and other interested parties to achieve and sustain excellence in mathematics, science, engineering and technology (STEM) education for Virginia’s K-12 and higher education students.
Members of the coalition board represent corporate, educational, governmental, scientific and non-profit entities.
Members of the CIP Consortium are the following school divisions: Alleghany, Bland, Bristol, Buchanan, Carroll, Covington, Cumberland, Danville, Dickenson, Floyd, Galax, Giles, Grayson, Hopewell, King and Queen, Lee, Nelson, Norton, Patrick, Prince Edward, Pulaski, Radford, Russell, Scott, Shenandoah, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe.
