COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany-Covington Democratic Committee met at the Covington Freight Depot on February 2, 2026. Julie Brackenridge, Committee Chair, presided. Over two dozen individuals attended.

All present expressed their gratitude to Covington Parks and Recreation for making the beautifully restored Depot available for meetings.

Susan Goings named the chairs of the Storytelling and Communications, Membership, Communications and Candidate Support Committees. She also asked for volunteers to chair the Voter Engagement and Events and Fundraising Committees. She stressed the importance of getting the committees up and run for this year’ s election for Congress.

The Candidate Support Committee also reported that elections will be held this year for three Clifton Forge Council members, two Covington City Council seats, and one Alleghany Highlands School Board member.

The Committee Secretary shared information about getting Committee and logo apparel through Four Moons. Hoodies and T-shirts for meetings and events are available directly by Googling Four Moons Designs or visiting their store at 419 E. Ridgeway St, Clifton Forge.

The Democratic Committee meets on the first Monday of each month at the Clifton Forge Library in odd numbered months and at the C&O Freight Depot in even numbered months.

The Committee can be found at www.acdcva.org. Its next meeting will be on at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 2, 2026.
