ROANOKE, Va. (VR) – The dogs removed from a residence in Iron Gate are doing well and receiving medical care as they recover, according to Angels of Assisi.
“The Iron Gate dogs are all doing well,” Angels of Assisi told the Virginian Review. “Some have started on antibiotics for skin issues, and all have been dewormed after testing positive for tapeworms.”
The dogs are currently staying in a foster home while they are monitored. The youngest puppies tested positive for parvovirus, a contagious and potentially serious illness in dogs, prompting a 14-day quarantine to watch for symptoms and help prevent the virus from spreading to other dogs.
Angels of Assisi continues to monitor the dogs’ condition as they receive care.
