LYNCHBURG, Va. (VR) – For the second time this year, Conference USA has recognized Liberty’s D.J. Geth as one of their top performers of the week.

Following last week’s 35-3 victory over Sam Houston, Conference USA has selected Geth as their CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week.

This is the second time this year Geth has received this weekly honor. He also received the honor on September 28 following Liberty’s 34-17 win over Coastal Carolina. In total, Liberty has received the last three CUSA Offensive Lineman of the Week award – Geth on September 28 (Coastal Carolina game) and today (Sam Houston game); Alex Birchmeier on October 5 (Delaware game).

Geth was the top ranked offensive lineman in Conference USA during Week 6 with a PFF.com grade of 79.5. The native of Spartanburg, S.C., also ranked second in Conference USA with a PFF.com Grade for Run Blocking (77.9).

The senior helped the Flames rush for a season best 297 yards on 39 carries in their Thursday night win over Sam Houston. Liberty averaged a season high 7.6 yards per carry and recorded a season best four rushing touchdowns. Liberty has rushed for 200 or more yards in four-straight games and has seen its team rushing total increase each game this season.

Following the sixth week of the college football season, Liberty ranks No. 18 nationally in rushing offense (223.0 yards per game).

As the Flames’ starting left guard, Geth has helped protect starting quarterback Deshawn Purdie, who has not thrown an interception in 2026.

Purdie leads Conference USA and ranks No. 31 nationally in passing efficiency (161.9). Midway through the 2026 season, Purdie has yet to throw an interception. Purdie also ranks No. 9 nationally in passing yards per completion (15.00)

What’s Next:
After a bye week, the Flames will wrap up Weekday CUSA action when they travel to Kennesaw, Ga., for their matchup against Kennesaw State on Thursday, October 22. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and LFSN Radio.

The Flames are 1-1 when visiting Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium. But, Liberty has not won at game at Kennesaw State since a 36-21 victory on October 15, 2016, when both teams were members of the Big South Conference at the FCS level.
