Alleghany County Offices to be Closed in Observance of Christmas and New Years Holidays

Christmas

The following offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Thursday, December 25, 2025 and Friday, December 26, 2025 in observance of Christmas:

– County Offices located in the Alleghany County Governmental Complex, 9212 Winterberry Avenue, Covington, VA

These offices will reopen for business on Monday, December 29, 2025.

New Year

The following offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 and Thursday, January 1, 2026 in observance of New Year’s:

∙ County Offices located in the Alleghany County Governmental Complex, 9212 Winterberry Avenue, Covington, VA

These offices will reopen for business on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Island Ford Transfer Station Schedule

The Island Ford Transfer Station hours of operation for the holidays will be as follows:

Wednesday, December 24, 2025 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 25, 2025 CLOSED

Friday, December 26, 2025 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 31, 2025 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 1, 2026 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The refuse collection schedule will be posted separately.
