COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Historical Society has partnered with Patsy’s Dance Studio to bring “Dolls Around the World” as part of the Christmas celebration on December 6.  The dolls will be in three local businesses starting with Patsy’s at Santa’s Toy Shop. In addition to the dolls, old time toys can be found in keeping with An Olde Town Christmas theme. The Virginia Tech car is full of dolls, and Howdy Doody and Shirley Temple can also be found in the toy shop.  Patsy’s Dance Studio window displays are fully “in the mood” for old time Christmas. Thank you to all the locals who provided toys for the window.

Patsy’s Dance Studio will have various activities throughout the day including cookie decorating, fairy hair and gift wrapping.  Patsy’s Dance Studio will be open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm or windows can be viewed any time on Main Street.

There will be many activities at The Discovery Center. Show your creativity with candy cane crafts, explore the Polar Express and Dickens Village displays, the Mini digger rides and other hands-on displays throughout the day. The Depot has lots of Santa’s dolls and mini train display including Sikorsky.

If you need to do a little Christmas shopping, the Discovery Center has half-price ornaments you can select from their Christmas tree.   Both the Discovery Center and Depot some very interesting books for sale including The Wall That Heals Visits Covington, VA. and Virginia in the American Revolution.  This book tells the stories of the passions and personalities that placed Virginia at the forefront of the Revolutionary War.

Please stop by and see us at these three locations throughout the day.  Original hours were 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm but had to be changed to accommodate the businesses preparing for the 6:00 pm parade.

Happy Holidays!
