Tony Tucker

Tony Edward Tucker, 36, of Covington, passed away September 27, 2025.

He was born September 20, 1989, in Alleghany County, a son of Burwin “Dooney” Tucker, Jr. and Gail Goode Tucker of Covington. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louise S. and Herbert Goode, Sr.; and his paternal grandfather, Burwin Tucker, Sr.; and several aunts and uncles including Bobbie Sellers, Gary Goode, Kenny Good, Fritz Goode, Charlotte (Tim) Hilton, and George Lee.

Tony was a gentle and compassionate soul who held dear his belief in seeing individuals for who they were, often sharing his wisdom with the reminder, “You look at the person, not the group.” He delighted in exploring nature, immersing himself in books and videos about plants and animals, and possessed a deep knowledge of the natural world. His particular fondness for creatures such as frogs, turtles, lizards, and birds led him to rescue many, including his cherished pets, a cat named Shadow and a turtle named Chester. An avid gamer, he eagerly anticipated new game releases. Tony
worked various roles in food service and facility maintenance. A member of Mallow Presbyterian Church in Covington since his confirmation on June 3, 2001, he leaves a legacy of kindness and understanding.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, Dena Tucker D’Amico and husband, Bert, of Chesapeake; a special brother, Pinky; aunts and uncles, Tracy (Kim) Tucker, Tommy (Barbara) Tucker, Shelby Goode, Patty (Ryland) Burchette, Ronnie (Mary) Goode, Sandra Lee, Cheryl Boguess; several cousins; and friends, Jonathan, Zack, Sharon, and Gayle.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Ricky Ruble, Tommy Tucker, Tracey Tucker, Jonathan Aldridge, Bert D’Amico, and Ryland Burchette.

Alternate pallbearers will be Jim Birchfield, Brian Burchette, and Zach Murray.

Tony was deeply loved by his mom, dad, sister, and all who knew him. He was affectionately called “Tony Good Boy” from the time he was a baby.

To parents: We told Tony we loved him every day – take the time to tell your kids you love them because you never know when will be your last chance.

In his journal, Tony wrote, “Somewhere a voice is echoing the sweetest story ever told”.

Rest in the arms of Jesus, my son.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Arritt Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in Tony’s name should be made to: The Wildlife Center of Virginia, PO Box 1557, Waynesboro, VA 22980-1414, or on the web:
