COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The streets of downtown Covington were filled with sounds of cheer and the marching band on Monday evening. The annual Alleghany High School homecoming parade was hosted by the City of Covington, and Olde Town Covington this year. Business along the parade route were decked out in Cougar colors, showing their support. Those involved with the parade as well as locals were invited to join the football team at Casey Field for a bon fire. Alleghany sports teams were recognized for their achievements so far this year. Head Coach Will Fields took the microphone and thanked everyone for their support not only for the football team but for all of the sports. Fields briefly touched on the game against Stewarts Draft on Friday, and encouraged everyone to pack the stands. The cheer teams along with the band performed the fight song and the night concluded with a fireworks show.
