The Little Critters Traveling Petting Zoo, a perennial favorite with patrons of all ages, will return to the Alleghany Highlands Regional Library on Thursday, June 6, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The traveling zoo features alpacas, miniature horses, chickens, rabbits, pygmy goats, a sheep named “Baaab,” a duck, a miniature donkey, and two pot-bellied pigs named Wilbur and Fiona.
Visitors are encouraged to pet the animals, talk to them, and feed them.
The 400 block of North Maple Avenue beside the library will be blocked off in order to set up the temporary pens and cages needed to house the animals.
Parking will be available in the city parking lot across the street. The library staff invites visitors to spend as much time as they like with the animals outside and then come inside to check out the wide range of materials the library has to offer.
This event is sponsored by Highlands Community Bank. For more information about this or other summer events, call the staff at 962-3321 or stop by the library at 406 W. Riverside Ave. in Covington
Programs and other activities may be accessed online at www.ahrlib.org or by visiting the library’s Facebook page.
