AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a crash with two fatalities that occurred July 22, 2025, at 6:18 a.m. on Interstate 64 eastbound at the 89-mile-marker in Augusta County.
A 2026 Freightliner TMA crash truck, travelling eastbound, overcorrected and ran off of the right side of the interstate. The truck then went through the guardrail, down an embankment, struck a tree, and overturned on its side.
Both the driver and passenger in the truck died at the scene. The driver has been identified as Georgeanna L. Hardesty, 51, of Iron Gate, Va. The passenger has been identified as Sabrina L. Harris, 50, of Covington, Va. Both were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
