CLIFTON FORGE. Va. (VR) – The Clifton Forge Fire Department, 701 Church Street, and the Clifton Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1610 Hickory Avenue, will be open as cooling stations from Monday, July 28 through Wednesday, July 30 from 10am-8pm, due to the extreme heat that has been forecasted for this week.

These shelters are open for anyone that needs relief from the heat. The shelters are not solely for the Town of Clifton Forge residents. “I strongly encourage anyone that lives inside or outside of the Town of Clifton Forge, whether it be Bath, Botetourt, Craig, or Rockbridge Counties, or surrounding areas to come to either of these locations to receive relief if needed.”

If anyone needs assistance getting to one of these locations, contact the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office at 540-965-1770 ext. 0.
