CLIFTON FORGE — Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge 166 recently welcomed Right Worshipful Jesse Samuel Lyons, District Deputy Grand Master for the 20th Masonic district, for an official visit.
In addition to Lodge 166, the 20th district also consists of Covington Lodge 171, Millboro Lodge 28, Mountain City Lodge 67 in Lexington, Buena Vista Lodge 186 and Glasgow Lodge 233.
District 23 and District 20 were separate districts until January 1, 2019, and now all lodges are a part of  District 20.
The district deputy will be nominated in what is now called “across the mountain” and “on the other side of the mountain.”
Each year the lodges will rotate between the three lodges in each area.
Right Worshipful Lyons is also master Mountain City Lodge 67. Lyons represents Most Worshipful Douglas Vernon Jones, 175th Grand Master of Masons in Virginia.
Lyons presented a program on the Grand Master’s theme for the year “Loyalty, Kindness — A Lasting Impression,” which encompasses showing our fellow man how to make our world, our communities a better place by showing our loyalty, kindness, honesty, integrity to all mankind.
“When we reach out to our 47 districts which consist of 300 chartered lodges in 12 different geographical divisions, we can let our light shine in our Masonry conduct,” he said.
Freemasonry is the oldest fraternal organization in existence and is based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to help make the world a better place.
Through a culture of philanthropy, Masons make a profound difference for their Brothers, their families, their communities, and their future.
The charities that all Masons should support is the Scholarship Program to assist children in their educational journey, blood program, Masonic Relief Fund and Masonic Home of Virginia.
