CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – The Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society and the Alleghany Cruisers will be jointly hosting the 2nd Annual Chessie Car Show at the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge VA on Saturday July 12.

This event is a fund raiser for the C&O Historical Society, which houses its archives, and operates the C&O Heritage Center in Clifton Forge VA. The C&O Historical Society is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving the extensive and colorful history of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway.

“The folks at the C&O Historical Society are awesome people.” : said Alleghany Cruisers president Robert Floyd. “They are not only committed to preserving the history of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, they are also very active members of our community. The Heritage Center is one of the top tourist attractions in the area and it is also the site of some great community events.”

The Chessie Car Show will be held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with registration opening at 8:30 am. This event is open to all types of cars. The $20.00 registration fee also includes admission to the museum facilities at the C&O Heritage Center. The entry fee covers everyone in the entrant’s vehicle. Public admission is only $5.00.

In addition to classic cars there will be a Chinese raffle, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, food service provided by the Clifton Forge Little League and Italian Ice, a raffle for an Atlas HO scale Chessie System locomotive, and a live D.J. The air-conditioned Heritage Center features many exhibits including a large operation model train layout, numerous artifacts and exhibits.

Outside you can explore historic rail equipment in the Smith Creek yard and ride the Little C&O Railway.

This year there will also be activities for the kids and a dance performance by A1 studios.

“Last year the inaugural Chessie Car Show was a great event, we are looking forward to an even better event this year.”: said Alleghany Cruisers president Robert Floyd. “This is definably a unique car show experience as not only do you get show cars of all types, but you get to explore the rich history of the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad.”

The C&O Heritage Center is located at 705 Main St in Clifton Forge VA. For more information about this event contact the C&O Historical Society at 540 862-2210 or Robert Floyd of the Alleghany Cruisers at 540 691-4626. More information is also available at www.alleghanycruisers.com.
