ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (VR) – A multi-agency investigation has resulted in ten felony charges against Bobby Lee Kelley III, a registered sex offender from Sumter, South Carolina. Kelley is charged under Virginia Code § 18.2-374.3 for using a communication system to facilitate offenses involving minors.
The investigation was led by Special Agents with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (VADWR), in partnership with the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office. On June 3, 2025, investigators traveled to Sumter, South Carolina, where Kelley was interviewed.
As part of the investigation, search warrants were executed at Kelley’s residence, where evidence was recovered.
The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office is committed to arresting anyone who violates the law concerning the safety and security of our children. No matter what state they live in.
Kelley, who has a history of similar offenses, and is a registered sex offender. Kelley is currently in custody and awaiting extradition to Virginia for prosecution.
