The Nation Celebrates the 81st Anniversary of D-DAY

D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in the history of war fare. On June 6, 1944, at sunrise 150,000 American, British, Canadian and French ground troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in Northern France in an effort to push back the Nazis. There were 11,000 casualties that day. 4,414
soldiers were killed – 2,501 of those casualties were American.

A1 Overview – During World War II, over 400,000 American service members died. This figure includes deaths from combat, accidents, and disease. The Defense Casualty Analysis System reports that over 407,316 American military members were killed in the war.

June 6, 1944, will never be forgotten by America and countries around the world. If you know a survivor of this war, please take time to say, “thank you” The death toll for this war is staggering.

May we never forget the ultimate sacrifice of so many Americans who paid the ultimate price for our freedom and never forget their families.
