COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Great News! The Missoula Children’s Theatre will bring their Little Red Truck to the Alleghany Highlands for a very special milestone.

An audition will be held for the production of ALICE IN WONDERLAND on Monday, June 9, in Curfman Hall at Covington Middle School, from 10:00 AM until noon. Kids entering first through twelfth grade are invited and encouraged to audition. Unfortunately, children must have completed kindergarten to participate.

No advance preparation is necessary for the audition, and there is never a fee to participate. Assistant Directors will also be cast to assist in rehearsals throughout the week and to handle essential backstage responsibilities. Those auditioning should arrive on time and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

Among the roles to be cast are three Alices of varying size, her sister Margaret, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Queen of Hearts, the King of Hearts, the Knave of Hearts, the Cheshire Cats, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, the Flower Band, Cards and Lobsters.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions come complete with costumes, scenery, props, and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 AM until 2:30 PM each day.

The musical “Alice in Wonderland” will be presented on Saturday, June 14, at Covington Middle School, with performances at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of MCT’s visits to our area; the Arts Council invites all former cast members to attend as special guests. There will be a Cast Reunion that day at 12:30 PM in the cafeteria.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency is brought to you by the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council with support from The Alleghany Foundation.
