RADFORD, Va. (VR) – If you were in Radford, you’re probably still trying to figure out what just happened — but let us break it down for you: Bronson Shinault went full beast mode and dragged the Cougars to a wild 19-14 win in a game that looked like a rollercoaster with no brakes.

We’re talking 6 RBIs, 4 hits, and one nasty clutch triple in the top of the seventh that blew the game wide open. Shinault was on a mission, smashing two doubles, a three-run triple, and driving in runs like it was a video game. Alleghany came out strong, capitalizing on a Radford error in the first that scored three — then Joel Bradshaw added to the damage with a sac fly in the third to make it 4-0. At that point, it looked like smooth sailing.

But buckle up — the fifth inning was straight chaos.

Alleghany unloaded with seven runs in the top of the fifth. Shinault cracked a double that scored two, Colten Jack drew a bases-loaded walk, Dylan Maurer dropped a hit for another, and guys like Landen Boone, Zane George, and Levi Elmore just kept pouring it on. It was 14-1, and Radford looked done.

But then… Radford lost their mind at the plate.

They straight-up exploded for 13 runs in one inning. Walks, hit-by-pitches, a massive triple by Arion — it was like every pitch turned into a run. Suddenly, it was 14-14, and it felt like the whole game flipped. But Alleghany didn’t flinch. They came back in the top of the seventh and dropped a 5-piece combo on Radford’s head. Shinault came up clutch again with a 3-run triple, putting the Cougars back on top, and they never looked back.

Lennox Webb came in and shut the door in relief, tossing 1.1 innings of no-hit ball and keeping Radford’s bats in check just long enough to lock it in. Alleghany racked up 12 hits, but more impressive? They walked 14 times — showing patience, discipline, and straight-up confidence. Webb and Jack had multiple hits, Carson Cosby led the walk parade with three, and the whole lineup stayed locked in from start to finish. Radford tried to scrap back with nine hits and 11 walks, but the Cougars were too clutch, too composed, and just flat-out better.
