LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Cougars Varsity Softball team was absolutely on FIRE Tuesday, taking down Carroll County with two sensational victories, thanks to massive performances from Laken Cantrell, Emma Skidmore, and Bryce Leitch. These three players were on another level, showing why they’re the backbone of this team and proving that the Cougars are here to make a serious run the rest of the season!

Game 1: Cantrell’s Clutch Hit Steals the Show

In the first game, with the score tied at 1 in the top of the fourth, Laken Cantrell stepped up and turned the game on its head with a clutch double that scored THREE runs, you heard me right THREE! Cantrell was on fire all day, finishing 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and keeping the pressure on Carroll County every time she came to bat. That game-changing double? Pure fire. Her performance proved she’s not just a hitter — she’s a game-changer.

On top of her offense, Cantrell was all over the place, getting it done in the field as well. She’s the definition of a complete player, making plays when it matters most and leading the Cougars to a 4-1 victory!

Game 2: Skidmore & Leitch Deliver in Crunch Time

Game two was pure drama — and who else to step up but Bryce Leitch and Emma Skidmore? The game was tied at 3 in the bottom of the seventh, when Bryce Leitch came through with a walk-off single that sealed the deal for the Cougars, giving them a 4-3 win! But let’s be real — Leitch was on fire all day, hitting consistently and coming through in the clutch when her team needed it the most. She’s got that clutch gene, and her performance in this game was unstoppable.

And let’s talk about Emma Skidmore — the queen of the circle! Skidmore brought the heat, striking out a ridiculous 13 batters while shutting down Carroll County’s offense over seven dominant innings. She’s been absolutely nailing it this season, and her performance in this game was another reminder that when Skidmore’s on the mound, anything is possible. She didn’t give up a single earned run and had hitters swinging and missing all game long.

Together, Unstoppable
