IRON GATE, Va. (VR) – On March 28, 2025, at 2:00 am Twinks 220 Diner located at 208 5th St. in the Town of Iron Gate was broken into.
The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 9:04 am by the store’s owner Ellen Kay that when she had reported to work, she noticed that
the store had been broken into, and the inside of the store was damaged. Along with the damage there were several items that were missing including sports memorabilia and a small amount of cash.
When the investigating Deputy viewed video camera footage that was caught by store security cameras a possible suspect was identified. A 17-year-old juvenile was suspected and when Deputies were able to interview the suspect consent was given by the juvenile’s mother to search the residence.
Once the Deputy entered the juvenile’s room many of the items were in plain view. A search warrant was then obtained, and all of the items were recovered. The items taken were valued at $2,133 and damage to the store to include a mechanical crane machine is approximately $3,500.
The juvenile was charged for a violation 18.2-95 Grand Larceny, 18.2-94 possession of burglary tools, 18.2-91 burglary of a structure,
18.2-137 damage of property in excess of $1,000.
