COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Dee-Dee Simpson is the original founder of the non-profit organization Surviving and Giving Back. She established this group in 2014. She established this group to raise awareness about cancer. She dedicated countless hours to preparing chemotherapy packages and assisting local cancer patients.
Surviving and Giving Back is a non-profit group that raises awareness of all types of cancer and the importance of early detection. This group helps local residents during their battle with cancer. Together we can educate, raise awareness, and put an end to this disease.
Dee-Dee Simpson was a 2001 graduate of Alleghany High School. Her greatest joy in life was serving others. In August 2013, at the young age of 30, Dee-Dee was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. She fought this battle for seven years as the disease progressed, causing her immense pain and suffering. Despite her struggles, she continued to serve those around her with a smile and offered kind words to everyone she met. Dee-Dee lost her battle with cancer on November 1, 2020, gaining her angel wings

The Surviving and Giving Back Memorial Scholarship has been established in her honor. This scholarship aims to keep her memory alive and would bring Dee-Dee great joy, knowing she is helping high school graduates pursue their dreams of attending college.
