AHPS Working to Help Promote SNAP in Schools

LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools is partnering with the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Department of Social Services to inform families about SNAP in schools.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides nutrition benefits to supplement families’ food budgets so they can purchase healthy food. AHPS’ goal is to help increase participation in SNAP for school-age children through partnerships.

Families are encouraged to visit CommonHelp.virginia.gov. and check eligibility requirements. Eligible families can apply online.
