David Patrick Kinkead
David Patrick Kinkead, age 63, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, passed away on January 4, 2025 surrounded by family at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.
David was born on November 1, 1961 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Teresa and John Kinkead. Currently residing in Clifton Forge, Virginia with his wife Lisa Kinkead, David was a prominent youth sports coach in Alleghany County between 1994 and 2010, coaching youth basketball and softball during that time period. He began work at Yokohama Tire in 1998, and worked there until August 2023. David suffered two strokes in 2017, fighting to regain his strength until his passing. In May of 2024, David had a car accident that saw him move into the Brian Center of Low Moor, Virginia and the Highland House in Clifton Forge.
He was a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School of Staunton, and a fierce Virginia Tech supporter and graduate. He survived through the night to see the Hokies final game of the season. He was proceeded in death by his brother John Kinkead, and his two dogs Bandit and Edison. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lisa Kinkead, his children Michael and Meghan (Sarah) Kinkead, his parents Teresa and John Kinkead, his sister Kelly (Randy) Long, his brother Scott (Iona) Kinkead, his two granddogs Hazel and Gus, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening, January 9, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. at Nicely Funeral Home.
