COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – The Alleghany Highlands Arts Council will produce its annual Madrigal Dinner on Saturday evening, January 4, beginning at 6:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Advance reservations are required, so please call (540) 962-2787 today..

The public is invited to join family and friends for food, drink, music, and laughter in a seasonal feast that brings medieval traditions to life. This magical evening will be filled with song and celebration.  Witness the procession of the traditional boar’s head, and wassail toast while you enjoy a meal fit for royalty and are treated to the talents of members of your community.

Admission is $60 per person and $100 per couple, including dinner and entertainment provided by the Arts Council Madrigal Singers and Leah and Roger Trent of Lewisburg, playing various medieval instruments, including Celtic harp, concertina, and hurdy-gurdy.

During the event, Alleghany Highlands Arts Council will name and honor the recipient of the 2024 Arts Legacy Award, presented for life-long dedication to the perpetuation of the performing arts.

The meal of medieval fare includes Pork Loin with Roasted Potatoes, the Queen’s Green Beans, Stewed Spiced Apples, Mixed Green Salad, Dinner Rolls, Tea, Coffee, and a royal version of ‘not-so-figgy” pudding for dessert.

Admission can be arranged with the Arts Council Office by calling 962-ARTS (2787). Seating is limited, so reservations are essential.
