The Covington Division of Police has received multiple reports from citizens about phone calls they have received from Apple.
When answered, callers hear what sounds like a female digitized voice referencing their iCloud account and that it was compromised or breached.
Apple does not make such calls, and these calls are scams police says.
The menu attempts to direct you to a live individual that will ask you for financial information.
It was stated again in the statement from the Covington Division of Police that Apple will not request this information from you.
“Understand that the callers will often use number spoofing to pretend that they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to hang up on them, repeatedly if needed, the statement read.
The statement continues with, “If you receive any calls you believe are scams, document the number or content of the call and report it to law enforcement.”
