STAUNTON – Led by four players in double figures, Staunton defeated the previously undefeated Alleghany at home last Thursday 66-52 in a non-district varsity boys basketball game at Paul Hatcher Gymnasium.
After dropping their first game of the season Staunton has now won three straight and were led by Joaquin Bell’s game-high 18 points to improve the Storm to 3-1.
The Storm also grabbed big contributions from Ky’Ree Scott who scored 17, while Anthony Renne added 13, and Thomas Chisley dropped 12.
The Cougars were led by Chase DePriest and Eli Entsminger whom each scored 13 points. Bubby Entsminger was the other AHS player in double figures with 11.
Alleghany (2-1) will look to get one back on Staunton when these two teams meet again on Wednesday in Low Moor.
This is the beginning of a regular scheduled pair of games against one another as Alleghany will be joining Staunton in the Shenandoah District next Fall.
